HENNING WEHN
Henning is The German Comedy Ambassador in The United Kingdom. This is not the easiest of jobs because the Germans allegedly do not have a sense of humour. Henning does not find that funny. He took office in October 2003 after watching an open mic night that left him convinced that he would do better. Since then he has done 20m warm-up sets for comedians as diverse as Jo Brand and Jerry Sadowitz.
Though unfamiliar with the concept of stand-up comedy he gathered plenty of stage experience compering various tourist events for a German tour operator. Furthermore, he had his own comedy format on local radio station Antenne Münster.
"You want to urge him not to mention the war, but he surely does." (Steve Bennett)
DOC BROWN
An underground rapper who worked with, among others De La Soul and Mark Ronson, Doc Brown put down one mic and picked up another in 2008 after working as a “slang consultant” on a Lenny Henry sitcom, written by Danny Robins and Dan Testell for Radio 4.
Encouraged by various BBC producers, writers and audiences on the station, Doc played his first ever stand up gig in February 08, and rejoined Danny Robins with a cameo in Robins’ 2008 Edinburgh show, Dannyfest, in the Pleasance Courtyard.
It was in Edinburgh 2008 that Doc reached the final of the annual So You Think You’re Funny? competition, and played the prestigious Tartan Ribbon event at The Pleasance Grand alongside Tim Vine and Stephen K Amos.
PATRICK MONAHAN (HEADLINER)
Patrick started off on the glamorous Irish/Iranian/Geordie stand-up circuit where he developed his warm, friendly, lively story telling style. He is a comedy festival regular and has performed his solo shows in cities such as Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leicester and Manchester and also at most major
venues throughout the UK, year round. He's always performed shows across the globe from the West of Ireland to the Middle-East, Qatar, Dubai, as well as across most of Europe, including
Luxembourg, Germany, Brussels, France, Greece and Monaco.
